31 Days of Scripture Psalms Day 9

Something to ThinK on…

Here we are 9 days into our 31 days of Psalms, studying yet another wonderful passage of scripture about our Heavenly Father and the hope he delivers. Have you ever been stuck in a situation where you just can’t do anything on your own to make it better? It’s a discouraging feeling. However, it doesn’t have to be completely hopeless. God is always near, and so incredibly willing to be our guide if we just let Him. Take a moment to open today with some prayer before we dive into scripture. Allow Him to show you his amazing presence.

Psalm 34:17

Short & Sweet
Psalm 34:17

First, I just want to touch on “The Righteous”. Who are the righteous and what exactly does it mean to be righteous anyway? I truly believe the righteous is referring to us, God’s children. Now before you even think that there is no way you could ever fit into the righteous category, hear me out! As humans we all fall short – to put it bluntly, we just suck sometimes! We say things we shouldn’t, we hurt others for selfish reasons, and we don’t ask for forgiveness nearly as often as we should.

However, we are all saved by grace and we are completely His. Righteous means to be of good moral character or to live in a godly manner. If you look up the definition, nowhere does it say PERFECT.

Second, I want to touch on the amazing realization this verse has to offer! If we, His people cry out to him, “The LORD hears” – This definitely piggy backs on yesterday’s verse. God hears us when we cry out to Him! So why would we ever want to leave Him behind in signs of trouble? No brainer right?  This is so incredible to think about, and yet so easily forgotten when things are going great. He hears us always. All we have to do is call out to Him.

Call tO Action

Again, He wants us to need Him. Take some time to rely on Him today! Share your inner most being with Him so that He might deliver you out of your troubles. Give even the smallest of anxieties over to our Lord.
